CDM Initiative
DMTF Common Diagnostic Model
![]() |
As an extension of the DMTF's Common Information Model (CIM), the Common Diagnostic Model (CDM) specification is widely used within the industry to evaluate the health of computer systems in mutli-vendor environments. CDM creates diagnostic instrumentation that can be utilized by platform management applications, and its tight synergy with the other manageability domains in CIM further enables integration of diagnostics into critical management functions. |
CDM is an OS and platform neutral architecture for:
- Discovering diagnostics and their capabilities
- Controlling diagnostic execution
- Retrieving diagnostics results
The CDM Forum, part of DMTF's Interoperability Initiative, is helping deliver additional compatibility in cross-platform system diagnostics.
CDM Conformance
The CDM Conformance Test Suite (CTS) software is available to IT vendors developing diagnostics within the DMTF DSP 1002 Profile Specification 1.0. Click here to learn more about the CDM Conformance Test Suite.
How can CDM benefit you?
- Allows consistent diagnostics for various components in a computer or server system
- Allows for platform and language neutral representation of diagnostics systems
- Allows for easy verification of the interoperability of diagnostics modules
- Leverages multiple Hardware Vendor diagnostics into an industry standard solution
- Enabling reuse of diagnostics suite across multiple use cases: factory, field and repair
