WS-Man Ready for ANSI/ISO Standardization

DMTF has been hard at work refining the Web Services for Management (WS-Man) specification during the past couple of months to prepare it for submission for consideration as an ANSI and ISO standard.

WS-Man addresses the cost and complexity of IT management by providing a common way for systems to access and exchange management information across the entire IT infrastructure. WS-Man is also the first specification in support of the DMTF initiative to expose CIM resources via a set of Web services protocols.

DMTF plans to submit WS-Man to the InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS) "Fast-Track" process to develop it as an American National Standard at American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Once it is approved as an ANSI standard, WS-Man will be submitted to the International Standards Organization (ISO) for consideration for international standardization.

This will be a notable milestone for DMTF as the organization continues to maintain its position as a leading standards body. As part of the international verification process, the specification will be put through a number of tests to ensure it meets a complex system of checks and balances of reviews before it is adopted as an American and International standard. It must be reviewed by each of the above mentioned organizations independently to achieve adoption.
